Jakarta, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan stressed the government’s commitment to run the 35,000 MegaWatt (MW) electricity project. However, in its implementation, the government promised to consider its development in accordance with the electricity needs of the community and the business world.
“We continue to ask for the 35,000 MW program to continue. However, the speed is based on the needs of the community and the business world,” he said through an official statement.
According to Jonan, the background for the launch of the mega project in 2015 was to expand access to electricity for the community. Because this goal is the main focus of the government.
“Try to compare, what is important is that the number of people who get electricity? If the people used to be, the current electrification ratio might have been 98.9 percent. Hopefully it has been 99.3 percent until the end of the year,” he asserted.
Acting (Plt) PLN Managing Director Djoko Abumanan detailed the 35,000 MW program, including 25 thousand MW owned by Independent Power Producer (IPP), and 10,000 MW built by PLN.
“PLN’s 5,000 MW has entered (contract),” he added.
In Java, he continued, the power plant owned by PLN had been completed by all contracts. Meanwhile, large-scale IPP-owned plants start entering in September.
Among other things, the Java 8 PLTU Cilacap and Java 7 Bojonegoro. “The average use of Ultra Supra Critical with a capacity of 1,000 MW,” he said.
