JAKARTA – PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero), a geothermal development company under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance, targets an additional installed capacity of 130 megawatts (MW) of Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) to 250 MW in the next four years.
Currently the installed capacity of the Geo Dipa plant is still 120 MW from the Dieng Unit 1 PLTP, PLTP Unit 2 and Dieng Small Scale or the expansion of the Dieng PLTP with a capacity of 10 MW.
In 2021 the capacity will increase to 130 MW as additional expansion of Dieng or Dieng Binary of 10 MW and 2023 enter additional capacity from the Dieng Unit 2 PLTP and Patuha PLTP Unit 2.
Riki F Ibrahim, President Director of Geo Dipa, said that to pursue the target of increasing capacity, the expansion for the Dieng and Patuha PLTPs is absolutely necessary. Geo Dipa is currently negotiating a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
“This is again running because ADB came, asking how is the social and community problems, the environment, what animals? Everything is done and you are mitigating, the community supports it too, “said Riki in Jakarta, recently.
Geo Dipa projects that the funds needed to develop PLTP are around US $ 300 million. The construction of Dieng Small Scale began this year. The company has prepared funds of US $ 23 million, specifically for developing potential in the Dieng operating area, Dieng Small Scale, Geo Dipa will collaborate and utilize funding from PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI).
According to Riki, in the initial plan Dieng Small Scale should have been completed this year, but failed to do so because there were maintenance needs for production wells. “It will be onstream next year, because we will repair the wells too,” Riki said.
