President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo inaugurated the operation of the 660 MW Steam Power Plant (PLTU) in Karangkandri Village, Cilacap, Central Java, Monday (25/2). Present to accompany the President during this inauguration was Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan and State Minister of BUMN, Rini Sumarno. Cilacap PLTU The 1 x 660 MW expansion is one of the strategic projects in Central Java Province managed by PT Sumber Energi Sakti Prima and PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali (PJB).
ESDM Minister Ignasius Jonan said that the Cilacap PLTU of 1 x 660 MW expansion is one of the strategic projects in Central Java Province, which is part of the first 2,000 MW operating. Furthermore, it is currently in the commissioning stage and is expected to be completed in September this year, which is equal to 1 x 1,000 MW.
The Cilacap Expansion PLTU project was developed by a PLN subsidiary, PT Pembangkitan Java Bali (PJB) with a 49% stake and was also developed by PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) with a 51% stake. “The investment needed for the development of this PLTU is almost USD 900 million and uses Super-Critical Boiler technology and can absorb up to 800 people at the time of its operation, during construction there may be 4,000,” Jonan said.
With an additional 660 MW for the Java Bali system, it is estimated that PLN can serve additional new customers of up to 682,000 household customers.
