Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan inaugurated the construction of the Grati Block III Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) development project, Pasuruan Regency, East Java.
The PLTGU is part of the 35,000 Mega Watt (MW) electricity project development program which has been boosted by President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) government in the past few years.
ESDM Ministry Director General of Electricity, Rida Mulyana, stated that the operation of the PLTGU will directly increase the number of plants currently operating around 12% of the planned 35,000 MW development.
“At the end of this year, we expect to get 4,000 MW throughout Indonesia,” said Rida.
For information, the Grati PLTGU is one of 6 35,000 MW project power plants to be completed this year. The total capacity of the 6 plants that will be Commercial Operation Date (COD) reaches 2,100 megawatts (MW).
Grati PLTGU with a capacity of 450 MW consists of two gas turbines that utilize gas and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and one steam turbine with a cooling system using sea water.
With the operation of the PLTGU Grati, it will increase the electricity supply capacity for Java – Bali, especially South Surabaya, Paiton and Krian.
